Professional Summary

Dedicated researcher, nurse practitioner, compliance director, educator, and leader with combined experience of over 18 years. Strong builder of streamline clinical education and compliance programs and developer of multidisciplinary teams to create organizational structure, cultivate positive group dynamics, and promote wellness and disease prevention in and for “marginalized” communities.

Mission 

Research focus: Stigma associated with cannabis use among Black women, associated marijuana policy reform directly impacting communities and people of color, and social and health equity.

What began as a passion to provide quality healthcare for Black communities and people of color as a clinician, has evolved into a mission of impact towards informed cannabis consumership and the policies, practice, and systems that reinforce marginalization. I am committed to contributing to the landscape of marijuana policy reform through data and the study, evaluation, and implementation of equitable legal marijuana programming to directly address health equity and empower communities of color that have been the target and casualty of the War on Drugs.

Academic Experience

Director of Clinical Education

Oversee compliance and regulatory parameters for applicable local, state, and national professional and accrediting bodies, Boards of  Nursing, and state authorization regulations (SARA) and development of  graduate level curriculum, faculty/staff, and overall student experience in all Clinical Decision Making (CDM) courses. Provide leadership for clinical learning online and campus based graduate level programs and ensure programmatic methodologies, curriculum, and objectives are met.

Graduate Academic Faculty

Provide faculty and student leadership, lecture, and clinical advisement and mentorship for Nurse Practitioner students in the specialty area of Health Promotion, Disease Prevention, Family Practice, and Women’s Health through the coordination and management of clinical and didactic learning experiences.

Graduate Research Assistant

Work closely with academic faculty to provide course assistance, serve as member of research team(s), support the needs of research study and literature review for innovative research ideas, and provide leadership and mentorship to undergraduate nursing students at a nationally recognized university committed to urban and global engagement.

Academic Journal Manuscript Reviewer

Review manuscripts submitted for publication to the peer-reviewed journal as a forum for nurses, health care professionals, and practitioners in related disciplines in the areas of culturally congruent health care delivery and to promote knowledge regarding culture, nursing and other related disciplines, and the delivery of healthcare. 

Clinical Experience 

Family Practice and Internal Medicine 

Participate in nursing and medical management of chronic and acutely ill patients in acute care, outpatient, and nursing/rehabilitation facilities in an independent and interdependent role for pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patient populations in federally qualified health centers, private practice, nursing/rehabilitation facilities, retail clinics, and community based health centers.

Hospitalist Medicine

Responsible for treating, managing, and coordinating patient care for acute and chronic conditions amongst an interdisciplinary team including medical and nursing staff, social work, and facility administration.

Urgent Care 

Responsible for planning, evaluating, and implementing treatment for acute conditions within the urgent care setting for patients across the lifespan.
